Onboarding

When you start, we'll provide you with work equipment. You get some guidelines and a budget. The budget can be used for a new laptop, screen, desk, or anything that improves your work environment and is compatible with your job.

Allowance

A baseline of $50/month. You can use this credit for up to 36 months in advance. So effectively you have an initial grant of up to $1,800.

Budget

Check your personal equipment dashboard to keep track of the budget that you have left available.

The budget available is capped at the equivalent of 4 years of budget accumulated without spending.

Renewals

Your balance needs to be above $0 to make a purchase.

If the purchase cost is above $500 please submit a request to [email protected] to get an approval.

You can either purchase the item yourself or request for the company to purchase it and get it shipped to you.

What can be purchased?

The item has to be in the interest of the company. When in doubt, do inform your manager prior to the purchase.

In general, you can purchase the following items:

• Laptop (Macbook)

• Monitors

• Desk or chair

• Accessories (keyboard, mouse, etc...)

Buyout & returns

When replacing the equipment or during off boarding, you have the option to buy out the existing equipment or to return it to the company.

The buyback price is calculated by WID and is based on fair market value of the item.

If you choose to return WID-owned properties instead, or during offboarding will be asked to prepare the items for return. You must package them appropriately and coordinate shipment of the properties to a provided address. Postage will be provided as needed.
